Local Lifestyle
Grayton Beach has developed into an eclectic community with a passion for culinary, visual, and performance arts. Residents enjoy a relaxed beach lifestyle with modern conveniences, from abundant art galleries to crisp, white beaches.
Dining, Entertainment & Shopping
Breakfast in Grayton Beach should always include a stop at Black Bear Bread Co, where guests can enjoy a breakfast sandwich, massive cinnamon roll, or pecan french toast to start their day off right. Chiringo is an excellent lunch option – the casual counter-service restaurant’s menu features tacos and sandwiches, including lobster rolls, to eat there or take back to the beach so that you don’t miss a minute of fun. A.J.’s serves lunch and dinner with an extended happy hour that goes from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. There’s live music most nights and cover charges depending on the act. Casual dinners happen at Redbar, the Emerald Coast version of a dive with a vintage atmosphere and amazing dishes, particularly their seafood gumbo. For a more upscale option, take to Borago, a charming trattoria that brings Southern seafood into the heart of Italy.
The center of town features a number of small boutiques, many of which feature art that you’ll love displaying in your home. Many of the art pieces are inspired by the local area and you can find a variety of mediums, from paint to found art and more.
Things to Do
Residents in Grayton Beach love to head to Grayton Beach State Park, a swath of protected land where they can clear their heads, find inspiration, or just enjoy some fresh air. Follow one of the trails for some exercise or hit the water with a stand-up paddle board. There’s even the chance to camp overnight in one of the cabins so that you can watch the sun go down over the magnolia trees. It should also be noted that this is one of the few spots where vehicles with beach permits are allowed on the beach, for those looking to tailgate while watching the ocean waves.
Grayton Beach’s big annual event is the 4th of July Parade, where everyone turns out to show off their artistic skills, enjoy delicious refreshments from local vendors, and soak up the good vibes of a thriving small town. Decorated vehicles in the parade include classic SUVs and cars, golf carts, and bikes.
